Call for Proposals

Sessions Submissions

Proposals for an individual paper should include an abstract of 250-300 words in length with the following information:

  1. Presenter’s name, institutional affiliation, mailing address, e-mail address, and phone number.
  2. Title of and the purpose of the paper
  3. Conceptual perspectives
  4. Significance of the presentation
  5. Methodology/research design (if applicable)
  6. Data sources or evidence (if applicable)
  7. Results and/or conclusions and significance of the study (if applicable)
  8. Keywords of the presentation

Proposals for an individual paper should include an abstract of 250-300 words in length with the preceding information:

Please note that all proposals are encouraged to submit even though the results are still preliminary at the time of the submission.

Workshop submissions

A workshop proposal should include an abstract of about 500 words with the following information;

  1. Objectives of the workshop, target audience, instructional goals, and planned workshop activities.
  2. A list of the presenters’ names and institutional affiliations
  3. 3. A list of equipment or room set up requirements

Panel sessions submissions

All proposals for panel sessions should include an abstract of about 500 words with the following information:

  1. Title of the panel session
  2. A list of the names and institutional affiliations of presenters, panel chair, and discussant(s)
  3. An abstract of the panel topic with 250-300 words in length
  4. An abstract of each paper with 250-300 words in length on the panel
  5. Keywords of the panel topic AND each paper.

Proposal review and selection process

All submitted proposals will be peer reviewed by experienced scholars and advanced doctoral students in each of the relevant fields. Acceptance notifications will be sent out to the first author within two weeks of proposal submission.

Proposal Submission

Before submitting your proposal, please review the guidelines for each type of submission and comply with the requirements. Volunteer for Session Chairs and Discussants

MCIES encourages faculty members to volunteer as session chairs & discussants. Please email the MCIES staff if you want to volunteer one or both of the roles.

Proposal Deadlines

Deadline: October 10,2013

Notifications: Within two weeks

Major topics

  • Teacher education from Global prospective (s);
  • Professional development, mentorship and inductions of teachers from Global Perspectives;
  • Leadership, management and  educational administration in a global society;
  • The promise and challenges in emerging technologies in global education;
  • Best practices in Study Aboard initiatives;
  • Collaborative/partnerships in global programs;
  • Social justice and equity issues in regional national and international education;
  • Demographic and language shifts in comparative education, policy and practice;
  • Comparative global special education issues;
  • Challenges of educating new immigrant students from Africa, Asia, South and Latin America; and
  • Others topics are welcome.

Generic Information/Policies Equipment

Standard presentation equipment (overhead projectors and PowerPoint equipped PCs) will be available for all sessions. Presentation slides and electronic materials must be formatted to be PC/Microsoft Windows compatible. Presentations must be saved to your own personal "memory stick" and be ready to upload prior to your presentation.

Participation limits

In order to promote and to allow as many conference attendees to present as possible, each individual may submit up to two different proposals for an individual or panel presentation.  MCIES does not allow duplication of the same presentation content in different sessions.

Length of the sessions

Individual paper presentation: 15-20 minutes
Poster presentation: 60 minutes
Panel presentation: 60 minutes
